On a beautiful Saturday morning, November 15, the 4th District Fire Department welcomed community members to a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of its newly remodeled kitchen and meeting area. The long-awaited renovation was made possible through generous donation from local residents and a $10,000 Georgia-Pacific grant.

Judge Executive Tim Flener and 4th District Magistrate David Whittinghill were asked to do the honors of cutting the ribbon into the new kitchen and meeting area. After the ribbon was cut Kirk Atkinson, 4th District Board Member President said a few words on how much work it took from so many in the community to make this a huge success.

Refreshments were served as visitors gathered to fellowship and see the improvements. The remodel was urgently needed after mold issues were discovered, forcing the department to replace the flooring, walls, lighting, appliances, bathrooms, and even the air unit. Several community members also volunteered their time and labor, helping transform the space into a clean, functional area.
Now fully restored, the updated kitchen and meeting area will serve as a valuable space for monthly board meetings and firefighter training sessions. However, the department noted that the need for support continues. As a strictly volunteer fire department (like others in the district) they rely heavily on material donations, financial contributions, and equipment replacements to stay operational.
