Metcalfe County High School introduced its new girls’ basketball coach last Wednesday.
Matt Turner brings 12 years of coaching experience to the Lady Hornets, most recently at Taylor County High School. He led the 2024-2025 Lady Cardinals to a 5th Region Championship and finished in the Elite Eight of the KHSAA Sweet 16 State Tournament. He was also named the 2024-2025 KABC 5th Region Coach of the Year.
“I am incredibly honored and grateful for the opportunity to join the Metcalfe County girls’ basketball program,” Coach Turner said. “I can’t wait to get in the gym and start working with our players to continue to build on the history of success the Lady Hornets have seen in recent years. I want to sincerely thank the administration for placing their trust in me.”
MCHS Principal Joseph Eaton said, “We are excited to welcome Coach Turner to Metcalfe County High School. His knowledge and passion for basketball will make a positive impact on our program. I look forward to seeing the great things that our Lady Hornets will achieve next season.”
Coach Turner and his wife, Chelsea, have two children: Noah, who is 12 years old, and Elijah, who is 9 months old.
