Community Comes Together for Veterans Wall Repairs

August 20, 2026. Woodmen Life representative David Brown, presented a check through the Edmonson County Arts Council to the DAV for repairs made to the Veterans Wall. The total amount was $2,500. The cost of the repairs was $3,100 Nothing more important than keeping the memory of a family member who has served the country.
Wall curator, Maurita Miller, noticed some cracks in the wall that should not have been there. After bringing it to attention of the VFW and DAV members reached out to Woodman Life Chapter 296, for assistance. Woodmen helps with many community projects. Woodman needed a 501c entity to help get the money for the wall where it needed to be, and that is where the Edmonson County Arts Council came in.
The Arts Council was represented by President Ricky Skaggs and Vice President Jamie Carnes. They allowed their organization to be the go between to help support the DAV in the repairs. Pres. Skaggs said he was glad to be able to help in any way needed. The Arts Council will host a dinner theater in November and will use funds made from that to cover the remaining cost for the repairs.
