Road Issues, Vehicle Requests Top Fiscal Court Agenda

Edmonson County Fiscal Court held its regular meeting on July 13, 2026. All magistrates were in attendance.
After the approval of bills and budget transfers the road report was given. Joe-Joe Montgomery stated the second round of mowing in the county has stated. There are issues with the backhoe not running properly. Mark Meeks asked about several issues in his district and Montgomery answered how they had installed a tile on Noah Bledsoe Road and others that will be checked into. Judge Exec Lindsey stated that with the amount of water the county has received there are issues and they are trying to keep up with what has gotten worse.
In the Sheriff’s report, given by Deputy Clay Deweese, he stated last month there were 550 runs. Deweese presented a truck the sheriff’s office would like to purchase, the Fiscal Court tabled the issue until Sheriff James Vincent could be present.
The Jailer’s report was given by Ray Willhite. Willhite said there are currently 10 inmates in the Hart County Jail. The office of the Courts is requesting a fence to be built so that transports can pull in to unload prisoners in a secured area. The Jailer’s Department requested a new vehicle due to the high miles and issues of some of the current vehicles. Fiscal Court gave the go ahead for the Jailer department to start looking to see what was available.
The Parks and Rec report given by Cody Stewart. Stewart reported the fireworks show went well. They have started doing LED change outs at Chalybeate. Stewart was asked when the pickle ball courts would be ready and he stated it would be near the end of the month.
The Fiscal Court approved the following; Treasurer’s June monthly settlement, Judge’s Quarterly Financial Statement, Treasurer’s Fiscal Year 2026 Annual Settlement, Jailer’s Quarterly Report, Jailer’s Fiscal Year 2026 report, July Cash Transfers, Resolution EC26-20 LARP Funds agreement, KACO application for membership agreement-Worker’s Compensation Fund, and to pay MasterCard online via ACH.
The following were approved pending final audit; Sheriff’s June monthly Excess Fee report, County Clerk’s June MVAV Collection report, County Clerk’s June Excess Fee report, County Clerk’s June Deed Transfer Tax report, and County Clerk’s June Delinquent Tax Collection report.
The Fiscal Court acknowledged the County Clerk’s June Document Storage Fee report pending final audit. The Fiscal Court also acknowledged the Dog Control June CAD Report and BGWC June Shelter Directors report.
The next Fiscal Court will be on July 27, 2026 in the upstairs courtroom and is open to the public.
