This is the first year for the Diaper Derby and Diaper Dash, and they didn’t disappoint. Several parents were on hand to sign up their babies.

The Diaper Derby was for any baby who was not walking yet, and Lena Curry won it with ease. The second place finisher was Sutton Livers. The winner of the Diaper Dash was Paislee Anderson. At the start, she headed straight for the finish line, leaving the competition behind. The second-place finisher was Xander Lopez.

The winners in the sand sculpture contest were Emilia Lopez with first place and Liam Glass with second.

It was a warm one, but that didn’t stop the children from playing in the sand and making castles; meanwhile, parents could shop at any of the 50 booths set up in the courthouse lawn. Plus, the museum was open for visitors, and the Historical Society has a new book out.

Another event hosted for the children was the bicycle parade. The event brought out a large group of children with bicycles, scooters (one ridden by an alien), and battery-powered vehicles.

There was a nice variety of food on the food trucks and a few booths as well, selling a selection from catfish to Dole whip.

The shelter provided a short show with dogs that were looking for a forever home, and one puppy was adopted.

Many came to hear the live music of the Hornets Nest Pickers, and some came to enter all the drawings at several of the booths.

The most common comment uttered was that folks had an enjoyable day.
