Brayden Johnson Makes History at ECHS

Last week one very hard-working Edmonson County Student was awarded Over- All KHSAA Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Brayden Johnson is the first ECHS student to receive this state award.
Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Midway University Brayden Johnson, son of Brad and Jodi Johnson, was awarded the overall KHSAA Male Student-Athlete of the Year. KHSAA Commissioner, Julian Tackett said “This award is chosen from all male athletes in Kentucky, all grades, all sports.”
Commissioner Tackett & Dave Baker WKYT/MC for the ceremony, noted Brayden starting the Edmonson County Tennis Program six years ago, his 2024, 2025, and 2026 Region 3 Singles Championships. Brayden is the KHSAA Male TENNIS Student Athlete of the Year. He has a #1 ranking in his class with a score of 35 for his ACT, and a 4.6 GPA. Brayden is also a National Merit Scholar, Coca Cola Scholar Finalist, National Beta Scholar Finalist, ELKS Most Valuable Student Scholar, and completed an Associate Degree while in high school, along with admittance to Harvard as key factors in the committee’s decision.
