Trojans defeat Hornets 66-53

The Metcalfe County High School boys’ basketball team and Coach Brandon Brockman hosted Coach Warren Cunningham and Barren County last week in a Region 4 matchup. The Trojans picked up the road win over the Hornets 66-53.

Kade Hardy dropped 22 points to lead BCHS. Weston Shelton had 19 points.

Gavin Nunn had 8 points and Jaxson Byrd added 7 points. Maddox Griggs had 5 points and Cam Pippen added a 3-pointer. Kataviun Fryar had a basket. Nunn led the team in rebounding with 9 boards and Hardy pulled down 7 rebounds. Byrd had 6 rebounds.

The Trojans shot 7 of 18 from beyond the arc for 38.9%.

Maddux Garrett led all scorers with 24 points, including making 4 of 7 shots from beyond the arc. Hudson Fields had 9 points. Braden Page had 8 points and led the team in rebounds with 7 boards. Kruz Tucker had 6 points and 6 rebounds. Jackson Devore had 4 points and Braeden Dial chipped in 2 points.

The Hornets made 6 of 21 shots from beyond the arc for 28 %. The Hornets are 9 – 14 as they prepare for the 16th District Tournament.

Barren County runs its record to 15-10 as they prepare for the 15th District Tournament. The Trojans will play Allen County-Scottsville on February 25 at 6 pm. Glasgow is hosting the tourney this season.
