The Butler County High School Trap Team has been fine-tuning their aim this fall season. In the 1A-Conference 2, BCHS amassed more than 2400 total points as a team, nearly 670 points more than their closest competitor, Jessamine County. Even more impressive, seven of the top ten shooters are from Butler County. Those seven rank in the top 25 in the state, also.
Mason Johnson edges out the next three top BCHS marksmen, Blake Deweese, Jackson Kimbler, and Brennan Smith, ever-so-marginally for the top four spots in the conference. Each place is only separated by one-tenth of a point. Johnson’s 24.6 average, only four-tenths from perfect. Dalton Hale claims the sixth spot in the conference with 23.9 average out of 25. William Bryant’s 23.6 and Carson Cardwell’s 23.5 are 7th and 9th overall, respectively.
Trap’s fall season is shortened (five weeks) compared to the spring, which will start around April. The group will have a meeting around that time next spring. Any 6th grade or older, boy or girl, is welcome to participate. There will also be a state competition to end the spring season. This talented group has state champions in their sights!
