The Butler County Bears football team traveled to Glasgow last Friday night and dug a deep hole early on. Glasgow’s offense made some big plays; plus, their defense returned two interceptions for touchdowns in the first quarter of the final district contest. The Scotties never looked back, downing the Bears 56-14.
The Bears will look to take out all this season’s 0-9 frustrations on the Eagles of Ohio County this Friday night in Beaver Dam. Last season’s finale with the neighboring-rival ended with an ugly skirmish, which Coach Robins has preached to his players, it is not acceptable. On many occasions in the heat of the battle, Coach Robins and his staff have been adamant that retaliation to unsportsmanlike conduct will not be part of the Bears.

As hard as it has been, the Bears have done a pretty good job displaying that character throughout the tough season. They have continued to play hard while not giving up despite the adversities faced. These young men and coaches have set a precedence of what Butler County football is going to be about for the years to come from a mental standpoint. Now, let some diligent, hard work equate into some numbers and results next season.
Nothing is given on the gridiron, though. This week’s game versus the Eagles will not be taken for granted by either team. Expect both to come out swinging from the start, but for the sake of the integrity of the game, that is not literally speaking. The Bears find themselves with an opportunity to finish on a positive note going into the winter. A combination of a big win, recruitment of players, and a successful offseason in the weight room will help this program set the groundwork for next summer.

The Bears will lose some huge numbers and leadership from this 2024’s team; however, Coach Robins along with his staff and players recruited players well once school started. Several athletes came out and you can expect that to continue going into the weight room. There is still some muscle in the halls at BCHS and an eighth-grade class that has some size and numbers, too. Bigger, Stronger, Faster will be essential to the future success.
