Michael Stoyonovich was recognized as Kentucky’s Veteran of the Month, for the month of August, 2026 by Barren River District Development.
Mike served in the US Army from January 1967 to October of 2007. He served combat tours in Vietnam and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mike has received the Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Meritorious Service Medal (Oak Leaf Cluster), Infantry and Air Assault Badges, Army Achievement Medal (2 Oak Leave Clusters), Overseas Medal, and General Officer Citations.
Outside of his military career Mike has served and supported the DAV and other veterans by helping them secure their VA benefits. He is a contributor to The Edmonson News with his weekly column “USA Veterans Corner”, served on Edmonson Planning Commission, A+ Board of Directors, Chamber of Commerce, and other boards in the past. He has also been awarded several state level awards such as: Kentucky Veteran of the Year 2019 and 2021, State Service Officer of the Year 2020, and inducted in the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame just to name a few.
Mike is dedicated to helping all Veterans and to being a great neighbor in Edmonson County.
