Community Support Fills Backpacks

As the start of a new school year approaches, the Butler County community has once again demonstrated its generosity by coming together to ensure local students have the supplies they need for a successful year.
The annual Cram the Cruiser, sponsored by the Butler County School Family Resource and Youth Service Center (FRYSC), was held Friday, August 7th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community members stopped by two Dollar General locations, 816 South Main Street and 5749 Caneyville Rd in Morgantown to donate school supplies that will directly benefit Butler County students.
A variety of much needed classroom essentials, including pencils, pens, notebooks, crayons, markers, glue sticks, backpacks, folders, and other school supplies filled the cruiser. Every donation will help ensure local children begin the school year with the tools they need to succeed.
The community’s support didn’t stop there. On July 25th, the Butler County Rescue Squad hosted a Stuff the Truck school supply drive at its station, located at 110 North Warren Street in Morgantown.
In the weeks leading up to the first day of school, several other local organizations and businesses have also stepped forward to collecting supplies, highlighting the community’s shared commitment to supporting area students and families. These annual drives are a reminder of the caring spirit that makes Butler County a special place to call home.
Anyone who would still like to contribute but was unable to attend one of the collection events can contact Melissa Glass with the Butler County Schools FRYSC, Butler County School Board or the Butler County Rescue Squad. Donations of new school supplies are still welcomed and will help make a difference.
