Top Dogs Take the Spotlight

The 2026 Green River Catfish Festival Dog Show was held on July 4^, at the RAFT Pavilion at the Fairgrounds, bringing together families, visitors, and their beloved pets for an evening of friendly competition and community fun, even as the summer storm moved through the area.

Despite the approaching weather, the event went off without interruption, showcasing the resilience and dedication of organizers, participants, and volunteers.  A variety of dogs took part in the show, delighting the crowd in categories such as Best Dressed Dog, Cutest Female Dog, Cutest Male Dog, Best Tail Wagger, and Overall Best in Show.

The event was sponsored by Amy Smith-Thomas and Osei Thomas with Elite Detailing and Pressure Washing.  Organizers expressed appreciation to all donors and supporters, including Friends of Butler County Animals, who provided dog beds, Heritage Animal Hospital who contributed treats and toys, and Northside Kennels who supplied bandanas and Frisbees.

Special thanks were also extended to all dog owners, their well-loved pets, volunteers, and judges who helped make the event a success.  Community members noted that the dog show continues to be an anticipated tradition each year, bringing smiles, laughter, and a sense of togetherness.

Even with a few raindrops in the air, the evening ended on a high note, celebrating not just competition, but the bond between people and their four-legged companions.

The Best Dressed Dog: 1^st place Lulu (Audry Belcher) 2^nd place Miss Priss (Nikki Colter) 3^rd place Grizzly (Peanut and Evana Martin). The Cutest Female Dog: 1^st place Honey (Porter Pendley) 2^nd place Lulu (Audrey Belcher) 3^rd place Miss Priss (Nikki Colter). The Cutest Male Dog: 1^st place Teddy (Mary Beth Embry) 2^nd place Oreo (Thomas) 3^rd place was a tie between Charlie (Billy /McCann) & Grizzly (Peanut & Evana Martin).  Best Tail Wagger: Oreo (Thomas) and Best Overall in Show: Teddy (Mary Beth Embry).
