Insurance, Funding Highlight Court Meeting

The Butler County Fiscal Court met in regular session on June 8, 2026, addressing financial approvals, insurance updates, board appointments, and district project funding.
Magistrates approved allowing Green River Contracting to draw up to $98,000 in advances for the purchase of materials. All draws will require receipts to be submitted to the county.
Gina Tynes of VFIS spoke to the court regarding several insurance matters, including coverage through KACO, KEMI, and the HRA Resolution. Her presentation covered insurance needs for county departments and properties, as well as health and workers’ compensation coverage for county employees.
The Fiscal Court approved several appointments:
- Butler County Library Board of Trustees
- Kimberlea Embry
- Christy Havens
- Board of Assessments
- AJ Woosley
- Susan Brown
- Kendall Embry
The court opened bids for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2026–2027, beginning the annual review and selection process for county services and contracts.
Magistrates discussed ongoing efforts to improve data center protection for county systems. Butler County is working alongside other counties in the region to identify solutions. A meeting is scheduled in hopes of gathering information that will help strengthen cyber-security and safeguard county operations.
Two magistrates requested approval to use remaining district celebration funds for community needs:
- 2nd District: Magistrate Kevin Phelps requested that the remaining $1,350 be used by the local fire department to purchase needed equipment. The court approved.
- 5th District: Magistrate Dillon Bryant requested that the remaining $1,187 be allocated to the Gilstrap Community Center for upgrades and needed purchases. The court approved.
All other bills and transfers were approved, and the meeting was adjourned.
