The Edmonson County Fiscal Court met in regular session on June 8, 2026, in the upstairs courtroom.

The Court held the second reading and adoption of Ordinance EC26‑18, which establishes a one‑year moratorium on data centers in Edmonson County. The Fiscal Court and County Attorney are working together with other surrounding counties to gather information on the Data Centers and the best way to protect Edmonson County residents. As of right now there are no centers in Edmonson nor have plans been discussed to have one in the county. The Ordinance is just a advanced protective measure.

The Road Department reported that it remains short on employees, which has slowed progress on current projects. Several road tiles have been installed in recent weeks, but additional work will continue as staffing allows.

The Sheriff’s Office reported 580 calls for service for the month, and noted that local children recently attended the annual Sheriff’s Camp. Deputy Jailer Ray Willhite delivered the Jailer’s report, stating that inmate numbers have been fluctuating throughout the month.

Parks and Recreation announced that Little League baseball has concluded for the season and that Little League volleyball will begin in June. The walking bridge on Highway 70 is nearing completion..

Road material bids for the upcoming fiscal year were opened and accepted with the condition of using the closest provider. Salt bids were also opened. The Court approved adding the Brownsville sign electric bill to the Community Center’s account and approved a contract with Leitchfield Termite Service for Bee Spring Park. The Edmonson County Board of Health tax rate for 2027 was also approved.

Pending final audit, the Court approved the County Clerk’s May MAVA tax collections, May deed transfer tax collections, and May delinquent tax collections. The Court appointed Jacob Bolton to the Tourism Board, and appointed Mindy Johnson and Michael Thompson to the Edmonson County Public Library Board.

The Court acknowledged receipt of the BGWC May Shelter Director’s report and the Dog Control May CAD report.

The next Fiscal Court meeting is scheduled for June 22, 2026, at 4 p.m. in the upstairs courtroom.
