Grady Dobson claims third consecutive win in State 4-H Trail Riding Project

Special to the News-Herald

Grady Dobson, a 7th-grade student at Memorial Elementary, has once again ridden his way to victory, earning first place in the State 4-H Trail Riding Project for the third consecutive year. Alongside his trusted five-year-old horse, Roana, Grady continues to inspire with his passion, determination, and love for the trail.

Grady has owned Roana since she was nearly two years old, and their bond is evident with every mile they ride together.

“Roana is the best,” Grady said. “She takes care of me and deserves the credit, too.”

The 4-H Trail Riding Project encourages youth to develop horsemanship skills while fostering a love for the outdoors. Riders track their mileage and hours as they explore trails, face new challenges, and grow alongside their horses.

Grady’s achievements speak volumes about his dedication. In 2022, he rode 519 miles. In 2023, he logged an impressive 751 miles. And in 2024, he set a new personal record – 796 miles – bringing his three-year total to a remarkable 2,066 miles.

“My favorite place to ride is Land Between the Lakes. It’s great!” Grady shared. “We are already logging our miles for this year.”

Congratulations to Grady and Roana on another well-deserved win!
