The Edmonton-Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce held its annual Christmas Banquet on November 25th at the old school gym with the biggest crowd on record.

As in previous years, local attorney Herbert Sparks presented the Jim C. Coleman award. 2024 marks the 30th year for the award.

He began by announcing that instead of just one recipient as in the past this year there are two recipients and announced Bill and Chris Lagermann as the award recipients for 2024. The Lagermann’s moved to Metcalfe County in 2009 and have since done many wonderful things in the community.

They formed the Metcalfe County Shooting Sports Program with Ken Childers. The have been awarded by the Metcalfe County Soil Conservation District and recognized for community services for several different venues. They Lagermann’s are active in their church and its youth programs and you will never attend a chamber event without seeing them in attendance. And they not only attend, they take the pictures which they graciously share with Kim at the chamber and PJ at the newspaper.

Chris served as the Chamber of Commerce Secretary for 12 years. Chris also serves as Secretary of Red Lick church and Bill serves as the commander of American Legion Post 65.

As Sparks said if I shared everything that this couple has done in this community and for the chamber, we would be here all night.

Chris and Bill were high school sweethearts and have been married for 56 years. They have 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

Congratulations, Bill and Chris Lagermann on an award well deserved!
