BALLOT: #8

Matt Keith. Photo submitted.
My name is Matt Keith. I have lived in the heart of Glasgow for the last 25 years, in Barren County my entire life. I started OverDrive Performance Towing & Recovery over a decade ago, an Auto Sales business nearly 6 years after. Today, operating 3 small businesses out of downtown Glasgow.
The mindset of operating businesses gives me a valuable perspective. One where I have experienced what benefits businesses. What creates jobs and income. What layers upon layers of senseless regulations do in preventing those from opening or expanding. I’ve witnessed what increasing fees and taxes do to the bottom line of families that live here. I’m a fiscal conservative with the simple belief that our government should provide important services and protections that benefit its citizens. Not increase fees, taxes, and regulations without a need to uphold those basic services.
Glasgow’s current and future growth is my concern. We need sustainable, good paying jobs. We need affordable housing. We need transparency in government. Some of the most important items that I will work tirelessly to pass are term limits, for Mayor (2 terms, 8 years) and Council Members (4 terms, 8 years). A reduction in council size to 6 seats. Regular town hall style meetings where all citizens can ask questions and be involved in the decision making process.
Glasgow must rethink why we make the decisions we do. Who those changes are for, how and what impacts they have. We have to act now to better Glasgow for current and future generations. I love this town and its people, I want desperately to see it grow and succeed!
With that, I’m asking for your vote and support.
Call, text, or visit me in person, anytime.
