The Edmonton/Metcalfe Industrial Development Authority (IDA) held its regular meeting on Monday, August 19 with board members Lisa Boswell, Terry Garrett, Jerry Garmon, and Donna Caffee present. Also in attendance were Mayor Doug Smith, Judge/Executive Larry Wilson, reporter PJ Martin, and future member Luke Wilson. Matt Gallagher was absent.
Chairperson Lisa Boswell asked Treasurer Alley Bragg to present the monthly financial statement for July. The account balance as of July 1 was $32,797.20. Account interest, a payment of $500 to the Dept. of Local Government for the 2025 fee, and the Insurance Policy renewal of $5736.06 leaves a balance of $26,564.35.
Mayor Smith had asked Luke Wilson to be a board member but the Edmonton City Council has not voted yet, but will at the September meeting. Wilson agreed to sit through the meeting to better understand the procedures.
The board went into a closed session for approximately 10 minutes to discuss the South Industrial Park acreage. Upon return, Chairperson Boswell stated, “No action was taken.”
She then stated, “I’ve been approached by someone interested in coming to Metcalfe County. I am going to contact them and ask them to do a presentation at the next meeting.”
No other business was brought up so the meeting adjourned.
The next scheduled meeting of the board is September 16, 2024, at 2 p.m. at City Hall.
