Morgantown Celebrates Hispanic Heritage

The third annual National Hispanic Heritage Month Festival was held Saturday, September 19, at Charles Black City Park in Morgantown, bringing hundreds of people together for an evening of music, food, sports and fellowship.

The festival was held from 5 to 9 p.m. and offered something for people of all ages. Activities included face painting, basketball and soccer tournaments, authentic food trucks and bouncy houses for the children to enjoy.

The park was filled with activity throughout the evening as families and friends gathered around the soccer fields, basketball courts and festival area.  Children enjoyed the bouncy houses while adults visited with one another, shared food and took in the music and festivities.

Providing the evening’s entertainment was Puro Legendario, a band from Owensboro.  Their music added to the festive atmosphere, with many attendees dancing and enjoying the sounds throughout the evening.

 

 

The food trucks that were there serving authentic food were El Loco Appetizer and La Garrafa Artisan Ice Cream.

The celebration provided an opportunity for the community to recognize and enjoy the rich culture, traditions and heritage of the Hispanic community while bringing people from throughout the area together.

Morgantown Mayor Billy Phelps expressed his appreciation to everyone who attended and supported the event.  He also thanked those who helped make the festival possible, including the City of Morgantown and members of the City Council for their work putting the celebration together. Mayor Phelps also stated that you will be seeing a 4^th annual National  Hispanic Heritage Festival next year.

With hundreds of people participating throughout the evening, the third annual festival once again provided an opportunity for the community to come together celebrate Hispanic heritage and enjoy an evening of fun, food, music and fellowship.
