Staff Report

Four Edmonson County High School FFA members recently had the opportunity to represent their school and community at the National FFA Washington Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

Jackson Haberman, Keylee Jurisich, Peytin Manor and Robert Keith joined FFA members from across Kentucky and the nation for the weeklong conference, where they developed leadership skills, explored ways to strengthen their communities and learned more about the role of engaged citizens.

The trip was made possible through a historic gift from The Bill Gatton Foundation to the Kentucky FFA Foundation, allowing 100 Kentucky FFA members to attend the conference at no cost. The investment is helping open doors for students who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to participate.

While in the nation’s capital, the Edmonson County students took part in leadership workshops focused on servant leadership, goal setting, community service and teamwork. They also visited many of the country’s most iconic landmarks, memorials and museums, gaining a firsthand look at American history and government.

The students return home with new leadership experiences, fresh ideas and skills they can use in their FFA chapter, school and the Edmonson County community.
