James Carroll Ballard

GLASGOW – James Carroll Ballard, MSgt, USAF, (Ret.) 67, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. A native of Hart County, he was the son of the late Carroll Redford Ballard and Hettie Christine Dodson Ballard.

James proudly served his country as a member of the U S Air Force. He served in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm during his active career. He retired from the military and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, from which he also retired. His history of service carried over to his activities as a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Glasgow, where he was extremely active in service to others.

Survivors include his wife, Esther B. Ballard; three children, Greg (Crystal), Felice (Jason), and Christy; ten grandchildren, Gabriel, Joseph, Esther, Cadence, Gregory, Brody, Seth, Kevin, Emilio, and Kendra; two brothers, Thomas and Mark; three sisters, Mary Boston, Doris Clapp, and Sandra Jessie; several nieces and nephews.

The family chose cremation. A Celebration of James’ Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Glasgow. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
