Alice Cassady Thompson

EDMONTON – Alice Cassady Thompson, 87, passed away Friday, September 19, 2025, in Lexington, after a long illness. Alice was born April 18, 1938, in Metcalfe County to the late Wade and Lillian Cox Cassady. Alice attended school in Metcalfe County and was a very active and faithful member of the Antioch Baptist Church at Knob Lick.

Alice will always be remembered for her contagious smile and uplifting spirit. Battling rheumatoid arthritis for many years and having to give up so many pleasures in life, she never gave up or complained. She was known for her deep determination to keep going and determination to live life to the fullest. Alice was a superior pianist with a great talent in doing so. She played in many churches, along with her family and friends. She was the founder of the Local Comprehensive Care Center in Metcalfe County, which, after many years, was incorporated into what we know as Life Skills today, from which she retired.

Alice was united in marriage to the love of her life, Burnell Thompson, on January 6, 1958, until his death on April 14th of this year. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Genene Cassady.

Alice is survived by her son, Steve Thompson, and his wife, Rhonda; two grandchildren, Tara (Travis) Wright of Hardyville, and Kayla (Joseph) Eaton of Edmonton; her great-grandchildren, Bryson, Saylor, Levi, Allie Jo, and Wade; and a great-granddaughter she was looking forward to meeting soon, Avery Eaton.

Funeral services for Alice Thompson will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton.  Interment will follow at the Pink Ridge Cemetery. Visitation for Alice will be held after 4:30 PM on Monday and after 8:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
