June 17, 2025- The Edmonson County Emergency Response Team (ECERT) was the main topic of conversation for the most recent chief’s meeting.

ECERT now has new accounts set up for the team. They are looking at what equipment is there, and what they need to bring things back to be safely useable.

An annual report is due before July 1, 2025. Once the Team is re-established, they will be available for more grants next year. Since there are only about 77 teams or squads in the state, Edmonson could be eligible for much more money in the future. The larger sums could help to improve equipment needs and training for members and bring the team back to being a major asset for the whole South-Central area. Judge Exec. Scott Lindsey said this team is a big need for our county. Once things are more settled with the team, grant funding will be looked at to see about future funding.

Board members will review copies of old bi-laws with restructure before accepting new team members. It was suggested that background checks be completed on all future members and board members will vote to accept new applicants.

(KERC) Kentucky Emergency Response Commission issued $533.23 (LEPC) to Edmonson Emergency Management this year. The money has to be spent on the right to know and hazardous materials information.

Massey addressed the issue of the amount of fire dues that has been proposed. This will raise dues from $35 a year to $50 per year.

The next meeting will be July 15, 2025, at 6:00pm.
