Edmonson County Fiscal Court Holds Regular Meeting

Edmonson County Fiscal Court held its regular meeting on June 22, 2026. All magistrates were present except for Mickey Johnson.
In the Road report the mow trim cutters are out. Tiles have been installed and some ditch work has been completed. Questioned about getting someone to spray to help keep the roadside cleared were asked and Montgomery stated no one had a chemical license. Over time work for the road crew was discussed. Montgomery said he had offered and most of the members did not want to work overtime.
The Jailer report was given by Ray Willhite. Edmonson County currently has 9 inmates. A privacy fence for inmates being transported to court and a generator was suggested through the office of the courts
County Attorney Adam Turner discussed data centers. Turner said the center are such an unchartered territory that there is a lot of confusion as to what can be done. Turner is going to write a ordinance and submit that. There is already framework in another county that caused a overturn of a ordinance. The overturned decision will be challenged and move to a higher court. To get ahead of the issue Turner is going to write a ordinance. Turner believes the moratorium is fine. The statues reference the Planning Commission as a safe guard. Edmonson does have planning but not zoning. The Planning commission needs to update some things but Turner sees no problem with that.
Parks and Rec has started volley practices.
In Committee reports Vanessa Ulm with Tourism reported a 4 yr record breaking impact for Edmonson County. Ulm was surprised that the number went up due to last year’s flooding. The new sign is going up by the courthouse. John Muir trail sign has been ordered and will be inside Mammoth Cave National Park. It will be placed near Sloan’s Pond.
Emergency Director Terry Massey reported 22 runs in the last two weeks.
The Fiscal Court approved Ordinance EC26-15 Fiscal Year 2027 budget second reading and adoption, approved Compass Minerals Fiscal Year 2027 salt contract and to appoint a committee for potential road adoptions for Cox Road, Barbee Lane and Fairview Estates.
The Fiscal Court approved the following; to advertise for two full time road employees with CDL’s, June Cash transfers, Surplus HWY 70 park bleachers, donate three sets of bleachers to the Edmonson County Board of Education, surplus HWY 70 and Chalybeate Park field lights and to donate 30 lights to the Hancock Fiscal Court Parks Department.
The Fiscal Court approved County Clerk’s may Excess Fess report pending final audit. The Court also acknowledged the County Clerk’s may Document Storage Fee report pending final audit.
The next Fiscal Court will be on July 13, 2026 at 4:00pm in the upstairs courtroom.
