Brenda Sue Poynter

FOUNTAIN RUN – Brenda Sue Poynter, age 62, departed this life on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Hospitality Apartments in Houston, TX. The Henderson, NC native was born on August 18, 1962, to the late Brenda Jewell and Ellis Brooks. She was married to her devoted husband, Gil Poynter, who survives.

Brenda retired as a supervisor from R.R. Donnelley. In her retirement, she found joy in activities such as spending time on her houseboat on Barren River Lake, fishing, hunting, cruising, and traveling—each moment a precious opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church, reflecting her faith, caring nature, and dedication to those she cherished most.

Besides her husband, Gil, she leaves to honor her memory— her sons, Matthew Poynter of Idaho and Justin Poynter (Tiffany) of Missouri; beloved grandchildren, Matthew Hurt (Breanna), Phoenix Poynter, and Dallas Poynter; three great-grandchildren, Brayleigh Dyer, Owen, and Blakelynn Hurt; sisters, Mary Johnson and Dennise Holsinger (David); in-laws, Linda Rigdon (Ed), Sheena Martin (Doug), and Teresa Chism (W.T.); along with several nieces and nephews.
