George L. Campbell
GLASGOW – George L. Campbell, 95, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow. He was born on September 27, 1929, in Clinton County, KY, to James Ira and Lola Rebecca Campbell.
George served in the USMC and retired from the USAF after 21 years of total military service. Upon his retirement, he soon began farming, an occupation he actively maintained for the next five decades. When he was no longer able to take care of the farm, he continued to attend to his honeybees.
George was saved trusting in Christ as his Lord and Savior and subsequently received believer’s baptism on June 7, 1959, at Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Marietta, Georgia. While in the USAF, he planted a church in Eufaula, Alabama, where he served as Pastor for several years before being transferred overseas to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. He remained active in the local church wherever he lived, serving in various capacities.
He was married to Anita Rose Campbell, who preceded him in death after 61 years of marriage. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by four siblings, Woodrow, John, Shelby, and Minerva Campbell.
George is survived by his children, Eugene Campbell (Connie), Diana Alane Campbell, David Campbell (Barbara), and Sheila Wilson (Kevin); his grandchildren, Matthew Campbell, Wayne Mauk, Beth Cooper (Jeff), Daniel Mauk (Katie), Luke Mauk (Brandi), Gloria Mauk, Dawn Campbell, Ashley Andriot, William Campbell (Tiffany), Tony Gamel, and Chance Miller; great-grandchildren, Mason Gooden, Dakota Mauk, Laycie Mauk, Lauryn Mauk, Rayce Mauk, Bella Evans, Liam Evans, Bryanna Brown, Gavin Andriot, Tabitha Gamel, Chandler Gamel, and Kobe Gamel; siblings, Minnie Gragg, Alvretta Fyffe (Huey), Willa Behm (Don), Frank Campbell (Betty), Alma Phillips (Huey), Dannie Campbell, Dennis Campbell (Judy), and Connie Sergeant (Steve); along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Glasgow Faith Church.
