Robert Lee Jolly
GLASGOW – Robert Lee Jolly, age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, surrounded by his family. A native of Barren County, He was born on April 29, 1947, to the late Fred Jackson and Luvinnia Oliver Jolly.
He was saved as a young man and was a member of Union #2 Baptist Church. After school, he worked at the TB hospital and then moved to Illinois. He traveled extensively, playing in his own band for over 25 years. Later in life, he moved back to Glasgow and worked for Ideal Hardware and the City of Glasgow before retiring to enjoy life with his wife. Robert’s favorite pastimes were playing music and fishing. He could be found about anytime picking guitar with his family and friends, or with a fishing pole in hand, looking for one “this big.” He married Ruth Emberton Jolly of Hiseville on September 28, 1996.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth Jolly of Glasgow; 2 daughters, Melissa Bird of Colorado, and Amanda Jolly of Illinois; 3 stepdaughters, Melissa Norris (Ray) of Edmonton, Marsha Wilson (Jay) of Alvaton, and Valerie Allen (Mike) of Hiseville; a daughter in law, Nikki Jolly of Texas; one sister, Hazel Robinson of Glasgow; one special bonus daughter, Amanda Murray (Jason) of Rockfield; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-children; and 2 great-grandchildren due in the coming days and months; 2 bonus grandchildren, Brennan and Brantley White; along with many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers and sisters; and his only son, Robert Lee Jolly, Jr., in 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
