The Metcalfe County Fiscal Court met on Tuesday, November 12th in a special called meeting. Everyone was in attendance except Magistrate Harvey Hawkins. Three magistrates present equaled a quorum and the minutes from the October 24th meeting were approved after the motion and second by Magistrates Daniel Bragg and Kevin Crain.

The magistrates approved the appointment/reappointment of Aaron Trimm and Alica Beasley to the Metcalfe County Extension Board.

Next on the agenda was the quote received to replace the PIV Valve at the Metcalfe County Child Development Center. Judge/Executive Larry Wilson explained the situation saying, “They went out there to do some work. And if I remember right, they were going to check. We had some sprinklers that were faulty and other things. But they found where the valve was outside. It’s right in the middle of the parking lot, damaged, and they’re going to replace all that. It’s quite expensive, but we know it has damage. Things are not working right.”

Magistrate Bragg asked, “So is there another company that does this?”

Wilson replied, “Not to my knowledge, we have a contract who does our fire protection.”

Bragg then noted, “You know, only thing is it says that this quote was for October 31 and it said it’s after seven days. They can’t guarantee the price…”

Treasurer Page Edwards stated, “They actually just sent this to me last week.”

A motion was made by Bragg to accept the quote for the sprinkler system repairs and seconded by Crain. The motion passed.

The quote from Century Fire Protection of Bowling Green for $14,892 includes the necessary tools, equipment, labor, and materials to install a complete, automatic fire sprinkler system. The alarm system equipment and installation, and tamper and flow switches. All underground work, taps, meters, and fees, plus the insulation of piping and valves against freezing. It also includes the patching of the concrete or asphalt in the parking lot area.

The financial statement for October was approved.

The only inter-fund transfer was to move monies into the new worker’s compensation fund approved at the last meeting. After the motion by Crain and Magistrate Ronnie Miller, the transfer was approved.

The claims report was then looked over by the magistrates and a motion to approve was made by Bragg and seconded by Miller. The claims were approved.

The road department and recycling center reports were included in the magistrate’s folders for review.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 26th.
