This year’s Sulphur Well Homecoming is fast approaching on Saturday, August 17th. The homecoming has been a part of local family tradition for many, many years.
The opening ceremony occurs at 2 p.m. with the invocation, local speakers, and My Old Kentucky Home. New this year is the historical scavenger hunt for all ages.
Vendors of all types will be there with homemade crafts, food, and other items. The homecoming includes fun things for the children with a bicycle rodeo, a pet show, and kid’s games occurring every 45 minutes.
The car and truck cruise-in is scheduled from 1 – 4 p.m. with door prizes awarded. Stop by and see some amazing classic automobiles.
Of course, the crowd favorite is the 23rd Annual Liz Jefferies Memorial Duck Race to be held at 5 p.m. I wonder who the duck master will be pulling those winners from the water?
The top three of the ten prizes this year are 1st prize – Deep Freeze & $500 Grocery Card, 2nd prize – A weekend at Jellystone Park, and 3rd prize – An overnight Trip to Patti’s.
Music this year will be performed by local talent Tymber Garrett at 5:30 p.m. and local artist Cara Bishop at 6 p.m. followed by Season 19 American Idol Alumni Alex Miller in concert at 7 p.m.
Saturday ends with a kids’ glow stick shower followed by ‘Thunder over the Well’ fireworks.
