Burden pretrial conference set

A pretrial conference for William “Billy” Gerald Burden (Case number 21-CR-00226) is scheduled for July 29, 2022, at 9 a.m. in Room C at the LaRue County Courthouse.   

On November 12, 2021, Burden was charged with murder (domestic violence), tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon after the body of Burden’s estranged wife, 27-year-old Erica Burden, was discovered in a field in Upton. 

 The Bonnieville mother went missing on Tuesday, November 9 after dropping her daughter off at Bonnieville Elementary School, and her car was later discovered back at the school with the seat cover missing.   

 A search ensued for two days, up until the discovery of her remains on Thursday, November 11. 

 Burden’s attorney has pled not guilty on his behalf. 

 The charge of murder is a Class A felony punishable by 20 to 50 years or life in prison if convicted. The charges of tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse are Class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison if convicted. 

 Burden is currently lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center. His attorney has pled not guilty on Burden’s behalf to the charges of murder-domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
