Synopsis – Metcalfe County Fiscal Court
Special to the Edmonton-Herald News
At the regularly called meeting of the Metcalfe Fiscal Court held July 28th, a resolution was passed for the fiscal year 2020-2021, designating RDAAP funds for the Edmonton-Metcalfe IDA (Industrial Development Authority).
A contract stating that the Barren County Detention Center would house Metcalfe inmates for $34 a day was unanimously agreed upon.
Magistrate Miller posed the question “How long is the agreement good for?” since no specific amount of time was determined within the contract.
County Attorney Barry Gilley replied that such contracts did not necessarily have to set a time limit and that either or both parties could terminate the contract at any time if it was deemed unsatisfactory.
The service agreement with Lyons Mechanical for Justice Center maintenance was agreed upon, with a slight increase. However, the job may be bid out next year.
Metcalfe County Sheriff Lonnie Hodges was present to request that the court approve the purchase of a used cruiser that is fully equipped and ready to use. The court approved the purchase unanimously.
MCEM Director Emory Kidd was scheduled to give an update on the sirens, however, he was unable to attend and will give the update at the next meeting.
