William Earl Jackson
GLASGOW – William Earl Jackson, age 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at TJ Samson Hospital on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Earl was born in Glasgow and was the son of the late JW and Lela Jackson.
Prior to graduation from Glasgow High School in 1956, he completed two years in the local National Guard. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy aboard the USS Forrestal, serving four years. In 1971, he became a co-owner of Peterson Buick Pontiac for several years and later owned and operated Jackson Auto Sales.
As an avid sportsman, he enjoyed skeet shooting, playing tennis, fishing, hunting, and golfing. Whether participating in these activities with family or friends, he always loved a good competition.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Runelle Jackson; three daughters, and three sons-in-law whom he loved like sons, Nancy Turner (Jay), Susan Johnson (Kevin), and Michele Getic (Scott). Also surviving are granddaughter, Krista Duckett (Jason); great-grandsons, Gavin Matthews and Brantley Duckett; and sister-in-law, Betty Green and husband Mark.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adored grandson, Andrew Clay Johnson; mother and father-in-law, Clay and Orthie Bull; and sisters-in-law, Marcia Rigney and Helen Russell (Glennon).
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
