Staff Report

Members of Cub Scout Pack 208 put their extra hour of sunshine to good use on Sunday by completing a community service project at the John Prine Memorial Park. With recent flooding affecting the area, the scouts took advantage of the beautiful weather to pick up trash and clear brush, making the park more enjoyable for visitors.

Armed with gloves and determination, the pack collected five large bags of trash, a discarded lawn chair, and a broken bucket from the park’s surroundings. Additionally, they worked to clear brush from around the benches, ensuring an unobstructed view of the scenic Green River for community members.

Cub Scout leaders used the cleanup effort as a hands-on way to reinforce the values of the Cub Scout Law, including honesty, courtesy, helpfulness, and cleanliness. The project served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of giving back to the community.

Pack 208 meets every other Monday at Crossland Community Church in Morgantown. Families with children in grades K-5 who are interested in joining can contact Darla Henry at (270) 392-4442 or visit the pack’s Facebook page for more information.
