If you are like most, it takes a bit to get into the Christmas spirit. The season is hectic and there are just too many things to get done and places you need to be. It’s overwhelming!
What you need is a little bit of laughter and song and we have several talented people in the area who can bring it this season.
The Harold Chambers Theater Troupe is presenting “A Doublewide, Texas Christmas” this Thursday, December 12th at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 14th at 7 p.m. at the Metcalfe Middle School Auditorium. If you are looking for affordable fun, this is it for just $10 at the door.
The previous cast is back for more in this adaptation of the book by Jones Hope Wooten.
In this ridiculously funny comedy, it’s Christmas time in the newest and smallest town in Texas. The trailer park residents are dealing with the holidays, but they are also being double-crossed by county officials trying to take away their small town.
While trying to save their tiny town from the officials they are bound and determined to win the County-wide “Battle of The Mangers” competition with their Nativity at the Alamo entry.
All this while Mayor Joveeta Crumpler is trying to contain her celebrity-obsessed mother, her brother who has a pack of raccoons after him, and her best friend who’s down on her luck at love. Plus, there’s a new resident named Patsy Price who is just out of a mental institution and she’s up to something devious.
If you’re looking for a Christmas musical to raise your spirits, Barn Lot Theater is the place to be.
Hopefully, you already have your tickets to the Barn Lot Theater production of The Silver Bells, because they are sold out to most of the performances December 12th through 15th, Thursday – Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. But there is still a chance you can see this PG-rated play by calling the box office to sign up on the waiting list.
The play modeled after the book by Allyson Currin is described as “Golden Girls” meets “Designing Women” with a heaping helping of well-known Christmas tunes and clever new country and western ditties. Christmas without the Silver Belles… just wouldn’t be Christmas!
When Oralene, the longtime mastermind and director of the small-town Sylva Ridge’s Christmas Pageant, suddenly passes away, the Silver Belles must come to the rescue. With the spirit of Oralene looking on, the sterling-hued vixens band together, discover their talents, and pull out all the stops to keep the beloved pageant alive.
