The Edmonton City Council met on Monday, December 2nd in their regular December meeting with the following people absent Councilmember Teresa Hamlett, Park Manager Brian Garrett, and City Fire Chief Jerry Clemmons.

The minutes from the November 4th meeting were reviewed and approved.

Department Reports

 Public Works Superintendent Moe Hensley presented his monthly report stating that the Christmas decorations were put up along with the big tree and Santa Claus in front of City Hall.

He gave an update on the work on Hubbard Cemetery Road, “They’re all done with the line. They lack the tie-ins on it, and then they’ll be ready to test.”

Also, Hensley and another from the department along with the engineers’ plan to attend the KIA Board meeting in Frankfort to find out whether they’re going to give Edmonton a loan for the update of the sewer system in the amount of $977,500.

Police Chief David Robertson presented the department’s November activity as 8 arrests, 3 non-injury accidents, 1 injury accident, 1 Intoxicated person, 2 alarms, 6 animal complaints, 4 Domestics, 2 DUIs, 1 fight, 3 incomplete 911 calls, 3 motorist assists, 6 medical assists, 2 drug complaints, 27 traffic stops, 1 trash complaint, 1 warrant served, 3 funeral escorts, 35 total complains, and 9 citations written. The officers patrolled 2,904 miles.

At a previous meeting, there were no bids received for a police vehicle so the chief and the mayor were tasked with locating a suitable vehicle. Chief Robertson located a 2024 Dodge Durango for $43,650. The equipment installation adds another $12,360.62 for a total of $56,010.62.

Robertson explained, “It has everything on it heavy duty breaks, caliber suspension, alternator…She (representative) can have it delivered to the guy to detail it within a week.”

There was no discussion and the motion to accept the purchase was approved unanimously.

ABC Administrator Fred Ray stated, “Everything is running pretty good.”

Although Brian Garrett was absent, he provided a Parks and Recreation report for November:

Baseball and football concession stands were inspected;

Two Fall leagues ended (Kickball and Coach pitch and t-ball);

All the dugout tops were removed for winter;

All the shade structure tops were taken down;

Musco Lighting repaired caps on the football field and replaced three fixtures on the Cal Ripken field;

Grass was resown on fields 1 and 2;

Irrigation lines at the football and baseball fields were blown out and the pumps were winterized.

The November Fire Department report was not presented due to Edmonton Fire Chief Jerry Clemmons being absent.

Attorney Brian Pack reported, “I just reviewed a lot of grants, reviewed grant contracts, everything was appropriate. Just kind of looking back over the last month, nothing really sticks out. We did the 911, interlocal agreement did get approved by the Department of Local Government up in Frankfort. So that is now official.”

City Clerk/Administrator Dawn Devore stated, “They (911 Board) are having a meeting, special call meeting tonight, because I told them we had one person to be able to make it, but I did see on the agenda that they are presenting an audit tonight, so we’ll need to get a copy of that somehow.”

In other business, the mayor reminded everyone that the Christmas Parade is Saturday, December 14th, and anyone who wants to ride the float should talk to Dawn.
