Teresa Jo Walker

Teresa Close Walker, 77, of Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina, passed away on September 23, 2026.

Teresa was born on August 11, 1949, to Howard Close and Mildred Close (Walters). Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, she graduated from Western High School with the Class of 1967. She had lived on Wadmalaw Island for the past six years.

Teresa was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and homemaker who cherished time with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed gathering for big family dinners at her daughter’s home. She loved shopping and finding “the bargain,” listening to music from the 1960s, and sharing her opinions about the many bells and whistles in her new car. These everyday moments will remain treasured memories for her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny L. Walker, and her parents.

Teresa is survived by her three daughters, Angela (John) Glyder of Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina; Amy Thomas of Charleston, South Carolina; and Amanda Walker of Charlotte, North Carolina; her six grandchildren, Nick Glyder, Nathaniel Glyder, Jordan Glyder, Brooke Glyder, Zachary Thomas, and Madison Burkett; her sister, Regina McCauley; and her brother, Willie Close.

She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family.

Funeral services for Teresa Walker will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton, with burial in the Leatherwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM on Sunday until time of the service here at the funeral home.
