Edmonson County Fiscal Court Hears about Cuts to Road Budgets

The Edmonson County Fiscal Court held its regular meeting on August 10, 2026. After approval of bills and appropriation budget transfers, the Court got right to business.
KYTC representative Blake Williams presented to the Edmonson Fiscal Court the fiscal year 26/27 secondary rural program projected allotments of $861,905. Carryover balance was negative $12,345, leaving total funds available $849,560. Last year’s funds were $1.31 million.
The Road Department reported they were starting on the second full pass with the mowers. Road tiles were installed, and ditch work has been ongoing in the county. Judge Exec. Lindsey stated the county still has not received the county road aid, but it is expected any day.
Judge Exec. Scott Lindsey asked Emergency Management Director, Terry Massey, if he was part of the clean up or knows about the 2000 gallon gas spill at Nolin in Hart County. Judge Lindsey has contacted the Army Corps of Engineers but had not heard back from them yet.
In Parks and Rec, Cody Stewart reported Little League Soccer registration is still open and available on line. The walking bridge at HWY 70 ball park is being worked on.
The Fiscal Court acknowledged the Dog Control July CAD report, and Edmonson County Conservation District 2026 tax rates, approved the Treasurer’s July Monthly Settlement report, and acknowledged the County Clerk’s July Document Storage Fee report pending final audit.
The Fiscal Court approved the following pending final audit: Sheriff’s July Monthly Excess Fee report, County Clerk’s July MVAV Collection report, County Clerk’s July Excess Fees report, County Clerk’s July Deed Transfer Tax report, and County Clerk’s Delinquent Tax Collection report.
The Fiscal Court approved the 2027 County Litter Abatement Grant to purchase a salt spreader and plow for the 2026 Dodge Ram and 2024 Dodge Ram trucks.
The County tax rates were set, and a scheduled hearing for taxes was set for September 14 at 3:45.
