Thomas Eugene Gibson
EDMONTON – Thomas Eugene Gibson, 85, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green with his family by his side. He was born in Metcalfe County on May 20, 1941, to the late Riley and Effie Mae Walbert Gibson.Gene was a member of Casey Fork Church of Christ and attended Willow Shade Church of Christ. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army. Gene retired from SKF Industries in Glasgow after thirty-six years of service. Throughout his life and especially after retirement, he had a great passion for farming, working in his garden, and tending to his farm animals.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Louise Garmon Gibson; two sons, Mark Gibson of Edmonton and Jeff Gibson of Glasgow; one grandson, Hunter Gibson of Glasgow; two special granddaughters, Taylor Fields (Nick) and Baylee Coffey both of Edmonton; four sisters, Ruby Hurt, Betty Shive, Shirley Mutter, and Wilma Phelps all of Edmonton; one brother in-law, Jimmy Wisdom of Edmonton; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive.
In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Fields and Barbara Wisdom; one brother, Floyd Gibson; five brothers-in-law, Kenneth Hurt, Junior Shive, Herbert Fields, Marvin Phelps, and Yancey Mutter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Willie Gibson Cemetery located on Reece Hurt Rd. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home and will continue after 8:00 am Wednesday morning until time for the service.
Bro. Nick Fields and Bro. Luke Edmunds will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Hunter Gibson, Ronnie Fields, Donnie Fields, Nick Fields, David Smith, Greg Hill, and Jason Garrett. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Denny Edwards, David Traylor, and Bobby Phelps.
