Rockne Dargen Scruggs, Sr.

EDMONTON – Rockne Dargen Scruggs, Sr., 81, passed away on May 26, 2026, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

 

Born in Roswell, NM, on March 7, 1945, he owned Scruggs & Sons Concrete Co. in Logansport, Indiana, for over 50 years. He never knew a stranger. He was the family’s comedian and our life of the party.

 

He served in the U.S. Army and served in Germany from 1962 to 1965. He was stationed in Germany instead of Vietnam, because he remembered his German from when his father was stationed in Germany and France.

 

Rockne was preceded in death by his parents, Carrington and Marguerite Johnson Scruggs; brothers, Ronald Scholer, Lewis E. Scruggs; sister, Kim Scruggs Bonner Clark; and son, Rockne Scruggs, Jr.

He was a collector of many things: steins, knick-knacks, albums, clocks, masks, pictures, etc.

 

Rockne is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda F. King Scruggs, Edmonton, KY; two sons, Richard (Samantha) Scruggs of Logansport, IN and Thomas (Donna) Scruggs of Peru, IN; one daughter, Rachel (Dan) Arnett, Logansport, IN; one step-daughter, Linda Marie (Michael) Williams, Logansport, IN; one step-son, William Emmer, Edmonton, KY; and one sister, Beth Scruggs (Bobby) Pendergrass, Ranger, GA.

 

Six grandsons, Brandon (Kylee) Scruggs, Greentown, IN, Austin (Aliah) Scruggs, Logansport, IN, Paul (Saryna) Scruggs, Logansport, IN, Colton Scruggs, Fulton, IN, Keaton Babb, Royal Center, IN, Carter (Nora) Babb, Logansport, IN, and Mason Scruggs, Peru, IN; two granddaughters, Kaylyn Scruggs, Peru, IN and Avril (Rick) Pesce, OK; great-grandson, Caden Pesce, OK; great-granddaughter, Mikalyn (John) Driver, Texas; great-grandchildren, Rockne, Waylon, Remy, Weston, Oreana, Roanan, Gus, and baby girl Scruggs, due in July. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, who all loved Rockne dearly.

 

Two memorial services will be held in Rockne’s honor.

 

The first memorial will be in Glasgow, KY, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with visitation from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with the memorial service starting at 4:00 pm.

 

The second memorial will be held in Logansport, IN, at the Lighthouse of Hope UPC on Thursday, June 11, 2026, with visitation from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with the memorial service starting at 6:00 pm.

 

Graveside and burial will be in Monteagle, TN, at Summerfield Cemetery on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm CST / 3:00 pm EST. Rockne will be placed alongside his parents, brother (Lewis), and sister (Kim).
