Brownsville City Council held its regular meeting on April 6, 2026.
This was a short meeting as a scheduled update from Caveland Authority did not happen.
The contract from Leitchfield Gas was looked over again with City attorney Marc Lovell suggesting some changes that had been over looked. The changes were legal wording , and the city plans to move forward with the agreement to turn the gas ownership over to Leitchfield Gas completely once the wording is corrected.
In the Mayor’s updates, Mayor Ricky Simon spoke about the picnic tables being repaired and the search for some play ground equipment. Mayor Simon would like to let everyone know the park is open to the public for the season.
In police updates, Chief Jeremy Hodges said his department has underwent two audits recently and both came out really well. They are in compliance with all requirements.
City Clerk Jennifer Hite stated that the Fire Department also underwent a audit with the KY Fire Commission, and that came back as good also.
These good audits help to keep the city’s insurance rates lower saving tax payer money.
