Lora Belle Froedge

EDMONTON – Lora Belle Forrest Froedge, 90, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026. She passed at 2:55 PM at TJ Samson Hospital with family by her side. Lora Bell was born on Wednesday, September 18, 1935, to the late Ernest Welby and Mary Ella Forrest. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Froedge; her son, Michael Froedge; and her siblings, Ralph, Don, Bobby, Dorothy, Florine, Phil, Leslie, Welby, and Danny.

Lora Belle was one of thirteen children. She was a young teenager when her mom passed away, so she dropped out of school to help raise her eight younger siblings. While Lora Belle was the fifth child and the second girl, she took to mothering while still a child herself. She met the love of her life, Richard Benton Froedge, and they married on February 5, 1955. Richard left on February 7 deployed to the Korean War. This left Lora to move in with his parents in Chicago while he was gone. She worked and saved money for them to buy the farm on Randolph Road in Edmonton. Upon discharge, they started a family.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Vickie) Froedge, born on September 4, 1958, and Rebecca Lynn Froedge (Tony) Greer, born October 22, 1961; three grandchildren, Brandon (Staci) Greer, Colt Froedge and Riley Froedg; three great-grandchildren, Weston, Willow, and Wyatt Greer; and siblings, Dale Forrest, June Hayden, and Jimmy Forrest. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Lora Belle took a sudden health condition on December 29, 2025, she just could not recover. She was blessed by numerous healthcare sitters as she did not like being alone. Her caregivers were Shannon Tillberry, Lana Perkins, Dee Grissom, Courtney Grissom, and Emily Perkins. Thanks to two special doctors at TJ for showing compassion, Dr. McDonald and Dr. Sleem. Also, thank you to the Metcalfe Rehab crew.

Above all, Lora Belle loved Jesus. She professed him as her savior and was baptized into Christ at South Edmonton Church of Christ. She later moved membership to the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ in Randolph.

Funeral services for Lora Belle will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday and after 8:00 AM on Wednesday until time of the service here at the funeral home.
