John Henry Thompson
EDMONTON – John Henry Thompson, 86, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, at Barren County Nursing & Rehab facility. He was born on December 22, 1939, in Edmonton to the late Alpha and Delsie Dial Thompson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Thompson, Joe Fred Thompson, and Spencer Thompson.
John was cherished as a man who appreciated the little things in life. A mechanic by instinct, he possessed a unique ability to fix just about anything, and it brought him joy to help others with his skills. His hands were often seen repairing items, restoring old equipment, or lending a hand to friends and family in need.
He is survived by his children, Becky Matkovich, Dee Dee (Willard) Booth, John (Nancy) Thompson Jr., and Donna Young; grandchildren, Nicholas Matkovich, Rachel Matkovich, Katrina Zettlmeier, and Amyah (Nathaniel) Myers; and his sister, Minnie Thompson. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for John Thompson will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday morning until time of the service here at the funeral home.
