George Herman Schieler

LELAND, NC – George Schieler, age 83, formerly of Cave City, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026.

He was born in San Diego, CA, on November 30, 1942, the son of George and Alvira Schieler. The family soon moved to the Chicagoland area, where he spent his childhood and attended Prospect High School, graduating in 1961. He served in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne from 1964 to 1966. Following an honorable discharge, he worked in the printing business for nearly five decades. In 2018, he moved to North Carolina, where he enjoyed golfing and the company of many new friends.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Donna Schieler; brother, Donald (Phyllis) Schieler; children, Glenn (Cathy) Schieler, Paul Schieler, Richard (Heather Cunningham) Schieler, and Amanda (Patrick Lawlor) Schieler; step-daughter, Alaina (Addam) Krucek; grandchildren, Rebecca, Christopher, Elise, McCartney, Cassandra, Hana, Eden, James, Nora, Nathan, Hannah, and Noah; and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Olivia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Patricia Schieler, and his sisters, Ella Mae Rundgren and Joanne Pishotta.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Cave City Cemetery, with burial to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of George.
