Joe Donald Harvey
LENOIR CITY, TN – Joe Donald Harvey, 77, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in Glasgow, Kentucky, on July 2, 1948, the son of the late Joe and Marie Taylor Harvey. He graduated from Temple Hill High School in 1966, and in 1975, he graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology. After graduating from W.K.U., he began a career in the Engineering Department of Peabody Coal Company in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. After twenty-four years with Peabody, he and his wife moved to Manassas, Virginia, to be near their daughter and grandchildren. He joined the Engineering Department of Alpha Engineering and Construction of Dulles, Virginia, where he worked on projects at Dulles International Airport, Reagan National Airport, Boling and Andrews Air Force Bases, Quantico, NASA Goddard, the Pentagon, and the 9/11 crash site in Pennsylvania, among many others. He finally retired from Alpha in 2011 to spend time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charles Lenard and Jerry, and his sister, Pat Riddle, brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Tommy Humphrey, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Irvin and Ovie Key Humphrey.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Humphrey Harvey; daughter, Lesley Harvey Morris (Terrel); and grandson, Zachary all of Lenoir City, Tennessee; grandson, Jacob (Sara) Manassas, Virginia; brother, Terry Harvey (Cindy), and sister, Debbie Harvey; brother-in-law, Buck Riddle; nephews, Mike Riddle and Daniel Harvey (Hannah); and grandnephews, Clinton and JJ Harvey, all of Glasgow, Kentucky; and nieces, Shelia Foster (David) Glasgow, Kentucky, Sharon Grider, Hardyville, Kentucky, Sondra Humphrey, Glasgow, Kentucky, and Kathy Gibson (Jerry), Edmonton, Kentucky; as well as numerous grand-nieces/nephews and great-nieces/nephews.
Joe chose cremation. A Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow, Kentucky, with visitation beginning at 10 am.
