Gilbert Wayne Emberton

GLASGOW – Gilbert Wayne Emberton, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, after a battle with dementia and lung cancer at the Shanti Niketan Hospice House.

Gilbert was a 1962 graduate of Tompkinsville High School, where he played football and track.  He loved fishing and bowling.  He was a 51-year member of First Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Glenda Thomas Emberton of Glasgow; one daughter, Kimberly Dawn Emberton of Jefferson City, Tennessee; a granddaughter, Alayna Wardroup of Heiskell, Tennessee;  one brother, J.B. Emberton of Glasgow; two sisters, Delma Bledsoe and Maureen Patterson, both of Tompkinsville; and several cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Denise Emberton of Glasgow; his parents, Earnest and Enna Emberton; his grandparents, Brack and Emmie Emberton, and John and Dora Birdwell; and a nephew, Joel Patterson.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, and Tuesday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
