Shirley Goodhue Constant

CAVE CITY – Shirley Goodhue Constant, age 82, departed this life on January 25, 2026, at her residence. The Barren County native was born on April 15, 1943, to the late John W. “Willie” and Clora Sturgeon Goodhue. She was the devoted wife of Larry A. Constant for over 58 years, until his passing on July 12, 2022.

Shirley devoted her life to her home and family, lovingly caring for their needs with a servant’s heart and quiet strength. She was saved as a young girl at Little Hope Missionary Baptist Church, a place that remained her spiritual home throughout her life. There, she faithfully served for many years as Sunday School secretary and assistant, always willing to help wherever she was needed. Shirley felt deeply blessed to worship alongside lifelong friends—many of whom she had been baptized with—cherishing those shared memories and bonds of faith. Outside of church, she found great joy in tending to her garden and flowers, preparing generous, home-cooked meals for her family, and keeping her home spotless using her book of homemade cleaning remedies and solutions.

She leaves to honor her memory— her son, Craig Constant (Sherry) of Cave City; her grandchildren, Zach Constant (Jenny), Abigail Kerley (Stuart), Jordan Constant and Emma Bartley (Gavin); great–grandchildren, Kaylee Constant, Whitley Constant, Oaklyn Constant, Emmitt Kerley, Everett Kerley, and baby Kerley, due to arrive in July; daughter-in-law, Nikki Constant Woods (Steve); special cousins, Steve Sturgeon and Sherry Smith; along with several other cousins and special family members. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jeff Constant.

The interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.
