Edmonson County Fiscal Court has a slow beginning to the New Year

Edmonson County Fiscal Court held its regular meeting on January 12, 2026, all Magistrates were present.
In the Road Report the Department has been installing some road tiles and working on ditches.
Emergency Director Terry Massey reported 31 runs in the last three weeks. Diesel fuel spill had been reported to the state due to non-compliance clean up and a clean-up crew had to be called in. Massey stated the issue will be addressed.
The Sheriff’s report was given by Sheriff James Vincent. In 2025 the Sheriff’s department received 5,988 calls to service. 85 % of property taxes have been collected so far.
Jailer Todd Vincent stated there are currently 14 inmates in Hart County.
County Attorney Adam Turner has been working on the issue with the golf course and clearing up minor differences.
The County Clerk report was given by Clerk Kevin Alexander. Alexander stated that his office had been closed a lot during the end of the year causing a slowdown, giving them time to move things to the new software. Election filings have concluded.
Parks and Rec. Director Cody Stewart reported little league basketball is going on with good success.

In committee reports; Tourism will hold a Muir Legacy Trail meeting on January 20 at 6:00pm in the Edmonson County Public Library.
The Fiscal Court has given approval for the Jaws of Life to apply for USDA grant and advertise for a new Jaws of Life vehicle

The Fiscal Court approved the following: Treasurer’s December monthly settlement report, Judge’s quarterly financial statement report, Resolution EC26-01 2026 Animal Shelter agreement, Resolution EC26-02 Electrical Inspection services with TW Inspection Services, Resolution EC26-03 Electrical Inspection Services with SH Inspection Services, Resolution EC26-04 Electrical Inspection Services with Clemons Electric,
The Fiscal Court approved the following pending final audits; Sheriff’s December monthly fee account report, Sheriff’s December property tax reports, County Clerk’s December MVAV tax collection report, County Clerk’s December deed transfer tax report, County Clerk’s December excess fee report, and the County Clerk’s December delinquent tax collection report.
Acknowledged County Clerk’s December document storage fees report pending final audit.
The Fiscal Court acknowledged the November and December Shelters Director’s report the BGWC Shelter report, and Jailer’s quarterly report
Edmonson County employee life insurance proposal was discussed. The Fiscal Court approved this. The E 911 service agreement with Windstream was amended to Uniti Service. The SIO maintenance for the Courthouse and Parks quote was approved.
Justin Poland from Congressman Andy Barr’s office addressed the Fiscal Court and gave contact information to offer help to the county.
The next Fiscal Court meeting will be January 26,2026 at 4:00pm in the upstairs courthouse room and is open to the public.
