Girls’ 15th District Basketball: Trojanettes defeat Lady Scotties 65-26

The Glasgow High School Lady Scotties and Coach Kelsey Kirkpatrick traveled to take on Coach Piper Lindsey and the Barren County Trojanettes in an important 15th District matchup last Friday night. One big difference in this year’s first matchup between the two crosstown rivals is that the Lady Scotties entered the game with a district win under their belts.

The Trojanettes entered the game at 2-0 in the district and the Lady Scotties were 1-1 in district action. The Trojanettes kept their perfect district record intact with an easy 65-26 win over the Lady Scotties.

BCHS has wins in the 15th District over Glasgow, Allen County-Scottsville, and Warren East. Glasgow’s district victory was over Warren East earlier in the season.

Junior Trojanette standout, Shebly Byrd, led BCHS in scoring with 32 points and also reached a personal milestone. Byrd scored her 1,000th point in the 4th quarter of the Trojanettes win over the Lady Scotties.

Mahalia Burton was the only other player in the game to reach double figures with 10 points. Coach Piper Lindsey emptied her bench and every Trojanette got some court time in this game. Coach Kirkpatrick also made sure her players saw time on the floor.

Addy Slagle had 8 points and Addyson McFall chipped in 5 points for BCHS. Jakylie Green led Glasgow with 8 points. Kayla Kirkpatrick had 7 points and Reece England chipped in 6 points.
