Brownsville City council held its regular meeting on December 1, 2025. All Council members were present except Justin Meredith and Melinda Vanmeter.

The repairs were made to the garbage truck at a cost of $????.

In unfinished business Leitchfield Gas’ attorney is still working on the contract. They are waiting on right of ways and any copies of previous agreements.

In new business the deal with Media Com was tabled. There is some confusion as to land and property in the contracts that need to be cleared up before moving forward.

In the Mayor’s update, Mayor Simon said he had WRECC install some new plugs and lights around town. The trash rate for use of Leitchfield dump is increasing but the city has saved money by not repairing tires, so the choice was made to stay there instead of changing to another dump site.

Chief Jeremy Hodges thanked the Edmonson County Sheriff’s office and the Jailers Department for their help during the parade. Chief Hodges also cautions residents that porch pirates are working in the area and to take precautions with having a neighbor to collect packages if you are not going to be home.

In utility updates the routes for trash pickups will be the same for Christmas and New Years as they were for Thanksgiving. Brownsville did not get approved for the T-mobile grant, but it has been resubmitted for the next round in hopes to win some money for playground equipment at the city park.

The next City Council meeting will be moved to January 12, 2026.
