Danny Jewell Young

GLASGOW – Danny Jewell Young, 71, passed away on November 10, 2025, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. He was the son of the late Levis Jewell Young and Mazie Pruitt Young. Danny, with his wife, was the owner of Sweet Heart Bakery. He is a member of Allen Lodge #24 Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, and a York Rite member, and a member Widow Sons. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Mercer Young: two sons, Derek Young (Donna), Jason Young (Tammy); seven grandchildren, Carter Young (Mandi), Lance Young, Colton Edwards (Autumn), Caleb Brown (Haley), Elijah Brown (Bailee), Lainey Young, Addison Young, Brinley Young; six great-grandchildren, Carson Brown, Kamden Young, Mila Young, Allison Edwards, and Adaline Edwards; three brothers, Phillip Young, Terry Young (Heidi), and Roger Mercer (Terri); sister, Lisa Mercer; mther in-law, Ruth Mercer; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Susan Young, and sister sister-in-law, Julie Young.

Masonic rights will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with a celebration of life service to follow. Visitation will begin after 10:00 am Saturday at the funeral home.
